Calorie Calculator

Estimate your daily calorie needs based on your age, gender, height, and weight.

How to use this calculator

Select the gender option, enter age and weight, choose Metric or Imperial, and enter height in the separate fields. Select Calculate for the tool’s calorie estimate. For 1.75 m, enter 1 meter and 75 centimeters; for 5 ft 9 in, enter 5 feet and 9 inches. Do not enter 1.75 into the meters field and then add another 75 centimeters.

WHAT A CALORIE ESTIMATE MEANS

A nutritional Calorie is a kilocalorie, commonly written kcal. A daily figure refers to a whole day, not a separate allowance for each meal. For example, a hypothetical estimate of 2,000 kcal/day is a daily total; it does not mean 2,000 kcal at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

RESTING ENERGY VERSUS A WHOLE DAY

Energy used at rest and energy used across a day are different quantities. Movement, exercise, and other individual factors affect total needs. This tool has no activity-level input, so its result does not adapt to a particular training schedule or measure calories actually used by your body.

CHECK THE INPUTS BEFORE THE OUTPUT

A unit mismatch can change the estimate substantially. Recheck kilograms versus pounds and the separate height fields if a result looks surprising. Changing one input at a time helps show which assumption changed the result.

Treat the number as an educational estimate, not a prescribed intake, a guaranteed weight-change forecast, or a minimum safe amount to eat. Children and adolescents, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and medical conditions need individual guidance. A qualified health professional or registered dietitian can interpret energy needs in the context of health, activity, and adequate nutrition.
