Ideal Weight Calculator
An easy tool to estimate your ideal body weight based on height and gender.
How to use this calculator
Select the gender option used by the formula, choose Metric or Imperial, and enter height. Select Calculate to see a formula-based reference weight. In Metric mode, enter 170 for 170 cm, rather than 1.70. In Imperial mode, use the separate feet and inches fields shown.
A UNIT-ENTRY EXAMPLE
A height of 170 cm is 1.70 m, or approximately 5 ft 6.9 in. Those entries describe the same height only when placed in the correct unit fields. Entering 1.70 into a centimeters field describes a height one hundred times smaller, so checking units is more useful than interpreting an unexpected result.
WHAT “IDEAL” MEANS ON THIS PAGE
The page title refers to a height-based calculation, not a personalized recommendation. A single formula value cannot describe the full range of individual body sizes, body composition, or health needs. The calculator does not examine medical history, physical function, or nutritional status.
WHY DIFFERENT TOOLS CAN DISAGREE
Reference-weight equations can use different assumptions, so two calculators can return different values for the same height. A BMI result, a body-fat estimate, and this reference weight also describe different quantities; they should not be treated as interchangeable measurements.
Use the result to understand the formula’s reference value, rather than as a requirement to change your weight. It is not a suitable basis for medication dosing or a child’s growth assessment. A qualified health professional can interpret an appropriate range using individual circumstances and more information than height alone.
